North Texas' Cody Crist named 2015 General Dennis D. Cavin Youth Player of the Year
Linebacker/Running Back Cody Crist from Wilson Middle School (Plano, TX) was named the General Dennis D. Cavin Youth Player of the Year during the FBU Youth All-American Bowl.
"A key member of the three-time FBU National Championship North Texas team, Cody is one of the fastest players in the country," said Erik Richards, National Recruiting Director. "He reminds me of former two-time FBU Youth All-American Christian McCaffrey with his versatility on offense."
During his 2015 football season, Crist had 80 carries for 21 touchdowns and 1,478 yards on the offensive side of the ball in a seven-game schedule, and also led the team in tackles. He recorded a 4.51 forty yard dash at the Next Gen combine series.
Past recipients of this award include Sony Michel (University of Georgia), DeMatha High School’s Shane Simmons (Penn State commit), IMG Academy's Dylan Moses and Class of 2019 phenom JT Daniels from Mater Dei High School.
The FBU Youth All-American Bowl pits the country’s top 7th and 8th grade football talent against each other in an East versus West format all-star game. In its seventh year, this youth bowl has seen outstanding talent come through its ranks, including current college talents Sony Michel (University of Georgia), Samaje Perine (University of Oklahoma), Christian McCaffrey (Stanford University), Dante Sawyer (University of South Carolina), Trenton Irwin (Stanford University), Jarrett Stidham (Baylor University), Shea Patterson (Ole Miss), Tyrone Swoopes (University of Texas), Brady White (Arizona State University), Tristen Hoge (Notre Dame), Tyler Byrd (University of Miami commit) and Deangelo Gibbs (Ranked 4th overall player in the Class of 2017, according to 247 Sports).
